Pastor Trena Turner, born in San Francisco, spent her early years in the Bay Area. In 1978, she married her childhood sweetheart, Rufus Turner. Together, they raised a son and daughter, though their beloved son preceded them in death in July 2022. Today, the Turners find joy in the love of their seven amazing grandchildren - one who now plays without limits in the streets of heaven.

In 1995, Trena and her husband, Bishop Rufus K. Turner, M.Div., moved to California’s Central Valley and planted Victory In Praise Church (VIP) in Stockton. What began with just two families has since grown into a thriving ministry serving over 700 members. Ordained as an Elder in 2007, Lady Trena now serves as the Executive Pastor of VIP, where she continues to lead with vision, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

As a non-denominational congregation, Victory In Praise has a steadfast commitment to serving the community and
restoring broken lives. Under the Turner’s leadership, multiple ministries have been launched across California, culminating in the establishment of Visionaries Pursuing Excellence, Inc. (VPE), a network of 12 affiliated churches.

A Summa Cum Laude graduate of American Intercontinental University (2006) with a B.S. in Management and Organizational Behavior, Pastor Trena is a sought-after speaker for conferences and seminars. She specializes in working with leadership teams to advance ministry goals and strengthen individual skills - always with the aim of building God’s kingdom.

After 25 years in telecommunications, Lady Trena transitioned into a second career as Executive Director of Faith in the Valley (FIV), a multi-racial, multi-faith social justice organization serving five Central Valley counties. In 2020, she was appointed as one of 14 Commissioners on the California Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission. While she has since transitioned from her leadership role at FIV, she remains deeply engaged as a local clergy leader, advocating for justice and equity.

Pastor Trena serves on the Wisdom Council for Faith In Action National (Washington, D.C.), the Board of Directors for Victory In Praise Church, and as a Board Trustee for Team Charter Schools. She stands in awe of how God continues to use her for His glory.

In 2022, she published her first book, “Sleeping With The Bishop”, through MindStir Media. Its message has already impacted lives across the country. With her gift for plain speech and direct, love-filled communication, Pastor Trena remains committed to equipping others for kingdom work and inspiring transformation.
